Mastering the New School year

Superintendent Galaviz Dear Canutillo Community,

Our administrators and staff (instructional staff excluded) came back to work this week after a much-deserved week off for the summer. Our curriculum-connected administrators got right back on track by attending a two-day retreat designed to outline our goals and guidelines for the upcoming academic year, which starts on July 31.

The retreat had a golf theme as we strive to get more students to meet the Masters level of state testing. The Masters, of course, is one of the most important golf tournaments in the world, and helping out students meet their academic goals is THE most important task we have as a district. As an avid golfer, I was excited to address the principals, coordinators and other District leaders and give them the marching orders for the year.

I want to thank the Curriculum & Instruction team for putting together two days worth of informative and engaging programming. I am certain that the things we all learned will pay off dividends at the end of the year.

I also want to thank Raiz Federal Credit Union for sponsoring the putting at Topgolf that kicked off the retreat. Their support is proof positive that our community is partnering with schools to support public education. Thank you!

As back to school gets closer and closer, I want to invite parents to begin thinking about their own goals for their children this year. Communicate those with your teacher and let’s work together to make it happen.

I can’t wait to get started. It’s going to be a great year. ¡Viva Canutillo!
