On the evening of November 25, third-grader Luis Villalva helped save his neighbor, Elvira Frias, who was being attacked by a dog outside her home. “Luis really demonstrated our motto, ‘Be Safe, Be Kind, Be Ready’,” Garcia Elementary Principal Theresa Heimer said. “Our chant is a reminder to all students that they need to be safe and responsible in any kind of situation, be kind to all those we meet and greet, and be ready to act in all kinds of situations.”

The celebration took place Friday, December 20, in the Garcia Elementary cafeteria.
