The regular meeting of the CISD Board of Trustees will begin immediately after the performance.

The theme of this year’s event is “Super Heroes for School.” Students from each of CISD’s 10 campuses will each deliver a short skit, video or performance to honor the seven elected trustees who voluntarily dedicate hundreds of hours of their time on behalf of the district’s 6,000 students and 850+ employees.

“Each year, organizations across Texas designate January as School Board Recognition Month to emphasize the importance of the services these dedicated men and women provide to districts and students throughout Texas,” said Governor Gregg Abbot in a proclamation.

TASB’s spokesperson Barbara Williams suggests that the month should go beyond recognizing current beard members, saying, “Such recognition can encourage veteran trustees to continue to make the commitment board service requires; other citizens might be encouraged to get involved in the schools and help make positive change.”
