What are the requirements for substitute teachers?
  • Minimum of 48 college hours, bachelors preferred

How do I apply for substitute teacher with Canutillo ISD?

You will need to access the Jobline application system HERE.

How does the fingerprinting process work?

All substitutes must be fingerprinted prior to the first day of being able to work in Canutillo ISD. You are required to pay for their own fingerprinting. If you have already been fingerprinted through the Texas Education Agency, you will not be required to fingerprint again.

How often are substitute assignments available?

Substitute are needed on a daily basis. As a subsitute you will need to login to the Substitute Teacher Service Center to view all available assignments. The Substitute Coordinator will also call either the day before to see if you are able to work, or the morning of.

When are substitutes paid?

Substitutes are paid according the Canutillo ISD Pay and Absence Posting Schedule.

What are the rates  of pay for substitutes?

Are substitutes benefits eligibe?

Medical benefits will be offered per ACA rules.

How many days in a month can a substitute work?

Substitutes are limited to 16 days per month unless you are in a long term assignment.

How are long term assignments offered to substitutes?

Long term assignments are assigned based on district needs, substitute availability, and performance.

Do substitutes work during the summer?

No. Substitute are not eligible to work during the summer.
