Canutillo ISD hosted Junior Achievement of El Paso at Congressman Silvestre and Carolina Reyes Elementary School to teach financial literacy, work and career readiness, and entrepreneurship skills to all K - 5th grade students.

Each classroom was assigned a Junior Achievement Alumni to mentor, teach and inspire students and allowed participants the opportunity to be teachers for the day.

Junior Achievement’s mission is to inspire and prepare young people to succeed. The inspiration piece comes from community volunteers who not only deliver lessons, but share their experience. In the process, these volunteers serve as role models helping to positively impact young people’s perceptions about the importance of education, as well as critical life skills. Preparation involves the organization’s proven lessons that promote financial capability, work and career readiness, and business ownership that have shown to positively impact the lives of young people.

These lessons align with national and state educational standards and are delivered to millions of students across the country with the help of education partners and volunteers from the local community.

“We are very honored to be joined by the Junior Achievement of El Paso to expose our students at Congressman Silvestre and Carolina Reyes Elementary School to valuable life lessons, skills, and opportunities for growth and success,” said Reyes Elementary School Principal, Jessica Melendez-Carrillo. They taught proven lessons in financial literacy, work and career readiness, and entrepreneurship that have shown to positively impact the lives of young people. These lessons align with national and state educational standards. We are very grateful to our educational partners and volunteers from the local community for this opportunity.”
