What We Do
The Curriculum and Instruction department supports Science by providing district wide leadership and management of the Science curriculum. Science is coordinated in a manner to effectively ensure students are provided high quality instructional strategies, techniques, and procedures. The Curriculum and Instruction department coordinates the improvement of instruction in Science as identified as deficient on state and district assessments. Science is supported by maintaining and broadening the use of technology in the teaching-learning process.
The Curriculum and Instruction department works to design and disseminate engaging, authentic, and accessible science curriculum for a highly diverse student population. Our goal is not to factory-assemble scientists, but rather to craft science citizens who are knowledgeable and considerate of the processes that affect our world. To that end, we promote classroom and outdoor investigations to instill critical thinking and awareness, and integrate technology to promote information and media literacy.
