Officials announced that they have implemented the Raptor Visitor Management System at every campus and facility in the district. Raptor is a two-fold system that serves as a visitor management tool and also screens visitors against a national sex offender database.

Albert Vega, CISD Director or Information Technology, says that the new system will better allow administrators to positively identify every visitor, contractor, and volunteer who enters district schools and buildings.

“Part of keeping students and staff safe is knowing who is in our buildings at all times,” Vega said. “This is to ensure that the visitor has legitimate business at the school and that the school has an accurate accounting of who is in the building in case of an emergency.”

In addition to the visitor management system, all schools and facilities around the District are also receiving substantial upgrades to its security camera system and schools will see an increased law enforcement officer presence. Drills and training will continue to be a regular part of emergency preparedness.

“The latest precautions allow us to quickly identify those that may present a danger to our students,” said CISD Superintendent Dr. Pedro Galaviz. “There should be no doubt that the safety of our students is our highest priority.”
