Canutillo Community Celebrates First Ever National Night Out

This is the image for the news article titled Canutillo Community Celebrates First Ever National Night OutLaw enforcement agencies were called out to Canutillo High School October 18 where they surrounded a group of students, parents and the Canutillo ISD Board of Trustees who celebrated a national event and thanked them for their service in keeping the community safe.

Canutillo ISD held its inaugural National Night Out as part of the Homecoming week of festivities. National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, better places to live. Student groups performed and presented gifts to law enforcement personnel who were on hand to provide information and special demonstrations.

Hundreds of students ate dinner free thanks to the SFE dinner program. The Board of Trustees served ice cream generously donated by Prices Creameries to the community. The large group of law enforcement personnel were treated to performances by the Jose H. Damian Elementary Choir, the Deanna Davenport Elementary School Folklorico group, and the Canutillo High School Cheerleaders and Drumline.

Among the agencies in attendance were the El Paso Police Department, El Paso Fire Department, West Valley Fire Department, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, Sunland Park Police Department, Texas Department of Public Safety, U.S. Border Patrol, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, Burlington Northern Santa Fe Police, and the Union Pacific Railroad Police Department.
